F.T.W Tattoo
I apologise for the use of profanity in Wikipedia. I hope you can see this is unavoidable. This use of FTW far predates any internet slang, and is still in common use. It is a source of confusion as, outside of the internet, many people will interprete 'ftw' as 'f-ck the world', while gamers will think you are saying "For The Win."

Move to Wiktionary
There is no entry for it right now
Maybe move it to Internet Slang?
Sure it does not mean "For The Win"? That's the translation I most commonly hear.
FTW = for the win is so common nowadays I really think FTW should redirect to Internet slang 69.142.21.24 21:58, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
"FTW", a backward acronym for "WTF"
Added: "FTW", a backward acronym for "WTF" used when there exists an even greater degree of confusion than called for by "WTF".
This has grown in common usage to the point where I felt it should be added. Though there was some initial debate as to whether "backward" should be prefixed by an adjective (such as "common" or "rare"), ultimately it was decided that the adjective should be avoided entirely.

- Debated and decided where, and by whom? It seems the confusion would be whether the person actually meant "WTF" backward, or was using another acronym, such as "For The Win." Also, what is the purpose of the citing the game "WTF" as a source? Mhoskins 17:33, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- I would agree. I don't think I've ever seen it used as "Fuck the what," and it will only generate confusion if presented as fact. I'm going to remove it. -- Digital Watches! 04:05, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've never seen it either. --WikiSlasher 10:39, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Nor have I ever heard it, it will only confuse people.Troysteinbauer 19:36, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- it will only confuse people?? isn't that the very reason ftw should be listed? ...to clarify and clear up confusion? are we waiting for it to appear in the britannica before being acknowledged here? given the number of times it's been reverted suggests its usage is far wider than one might think. --emerson7 | Talk 19:13, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I have received it (by IM, as opposed to literally hearing it) in exactly the meaning described by Jinx Dojo. I have begun speaking it as "Fuck the what?" in person to help popularize this definition. Sbywater 17:00, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

For the win
hello I'm a german-speaking user and I want to know wether "for the win" is grammatically correct or not. --Mikli 18:49, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Technically speaking, no, however, people well versed in internet culture tend to know what you're talking about. It's not proper English, so know your audience before using it. --Digital Watches! 03:59, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- it's grammatical in most contexts, it just doesn't make much logical sense usually to refer to some reified win as the indirect object (yeah, it's in a preposition, but still) of your actions. 128.175.205.133 23:28, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I'd like to consider it a lot like "Huzzah!". --67.177.39.202 22:24, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
FTW (UK)
In the UK FTW often stands for Free The Weed and is used to show support for the legalisation of cannabis. But I am not sure if this is recognised all over the UK or just in my local Reagan

FTW
I've actually found that some people will also say "Fut the Wuck?" As FTW. but, meh. -meh
Problems with F-ck the World and For the Win
Seen multiple edits changing them around. I am not sure which one is correct. Something to look into. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.228.193.70 (talk) 05:18, 28 March 2007 (UTC).
- There is no wikipedia article about Fuck the world and For the win (which redirects to List of Internet Slang#F, and that link is there). Therefore, these entries (which happen to be explanations/defintions) don't belong on this disambiguation page, but rather on wikt:FTW (wiktionary - top right corner). And that's where they already are. Someone else has already deleted them from this dab page in the meantime. – sgeureka t•c 06:55, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
FTW
The tattoo ween on many bikers around the country does not mean fuck the world as everyone thinks. Alot of them will say that to be hard asses in public. I personally have this tattoo, and a biker. It means faith, truth, and wisdom. anyone who says different is just scared to give you the real meaning.
