Addison Trail High School, or ATHS, is a public four-year high school located approximately half a mile east of Interstate 355/Illinois Route 53 at the intersection of Army Trail Road and Lombard Road in Addison, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of School District 88, which also includes Willowbrook High School. Addison Trail draws it's students from Addison, and portions of Wood Dale, and a portion of unincorporated Lombard.
History
Addison Trail opened in 1966 and was originally to be named Army Trail High School[1] , after the street that is situated on. The students that attended Addison Trail the year it opened were mostly transfers from York High School and Willowbrook High School, Addison Trail's sister school.
Academics
In 2005, Addison Trail had an average composite ACT score of 19.9 and graduated 85.8% of its senior class. The average class size is 21.5. Addison Trail has now made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievements Examination, a state test part of the No Child Left Behind Act, two years in a row.[2]
Athletics
Addison Trail's athletic teams play in the West Suburban Gold Division, and Illinois High School Association. Addison Trail's mascot is Bucky the Blazer. Addison Trail currently has the 13th most overall state titles in Illinois history. Addison Trail's football team was state runner-up in 1983 losing to East St. Louis High School and again in 1997 to Lincoln Way High School. The football team has dominated the West Suburban Gold Conference as of late winning conference two of the last three years.
The boys gymnastics team won 7 state titles and the girls have 5 under coach Fred Dennis (Staffed: 1976-2002). (boys: 1977, 1978, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1985, 1986 [1]; girls 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1991 [2]). This is the largest number of gymnastics state titles held by any school in Illinois. Also, the 1982 boys gymnastics team won the US National Meet and was the best high school team in the US for that year.
These Addison Trail athletic teams have placed in state competition:
- Football: 6A State Runner Up 1983 & 1997
- Boys Golf: 7th in 1970-71
- Boys Gymnastics: State Champions in 1977,1978,1980,1981.1982,1985,1986. Second Place in 1979,1984,2002. Third place in 1983,1987,1989,2003. Fourth place in 1988. Sixth place in 1976,1996,2001. Eighth place in 1993,1998. AT has had 108 individuals place in state gymnastics competition.
- Boys Soccer: Fourth place in 1990.
- Boys Wrestling: State Champion in 1979,1980. Second place in 1971. Sixth place in 1975.
- Girls Gymnastics: State Champions in 1978,1979,1980,1981,1991. Fifth place in 1982,1990. Sixth in 1988.
- Girls Track and Field: Seventh in 1981.
Activities
Students are allowed to create their own clubs if they can meet requirements: enough student participants, a teacher sponsor, and that the club is school appropriate.

- Mark Anelli, 1997, St.Louis Rams tight end. All Big Ten performer at University of Wisconsin.
- Jim Ellison, Founder and Lead Singer of the rock band Material Issue.
- Koji Kraft, 2000, Has appeared in numerous BMX competitions including the X Games.
- James Millns, 1967, Winner of 1976 Winter Olympics bronze medal in figure skating.
- Gary Ofenloch, 1969, professional tuba player for the Utah Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Boston Pops. Recorded the soundtrack for the movie Saving Private Ryan with the Boston Symphony.
- Mike Retondo, 1999, Member of the rock band Plain White T's.
- Mark Rodenhauser, NFL player from 1987-1999. Played for Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers and Detroit Lions.
- Dan Rumishek, 1998, All Big Ten football player at the University of Michigan, later played for the Chicago Bears.[3]
- Rocco Sisto, 1970, Actor, Played Richie Gazzo in Donnie Brasco and young Junior Soprano in The Sopranos.
- Brian Taylor, 1998, 4 year letter winner at Stanford University (football). Won Pacific-10 Conference title in 1999 and played in 2000 Rose Bowl Game.
- Lenae Williams, 1998, Former WNBA first round draft pick.
- Robert Brown, 1982, Former USA gymnastics team member.
- John Varga, 1992, Played for USA in the World Junior Championships. Drafted by the Washington Capitals. Son of longtime Blackhawks equipment manager Lou Varga.
- Rhonda Zayas, 1993, Award-winning Art Director. Creative Director, Animation Magazine. Co-Founder, Arizona Fashion Foundation. 2005 Fashion Group International Rising Star Nominee. Co-Founder, FROCK 'N ROLL Annual Fashion/Music Charity Event Phoenix, AZ. Brand Director, Ray Brown Fashion Rock-n-Roll stage clothing designer: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, John Mellencamp, Poison, Guns 'n Roses, Cher, etc. Jon Bon Jovi long, patchwork, skull coat is at The Smithsonian Institute.
