His father was sheristadar, a high position held by a few Indians, including [[Ram Mohan Roy]]. Born at Gouriva village on the banks of the Hooghly River, he proceeded to Calcutta for his education in 1801. He joined the Hindustani Press of Dr William Hunter in 1904 and later became its manager. In subsequent years Dr Laden and Dr. H.H.Wilson, became shareholders of the Hindustani Press. Ramkamal Sen (1783 - 1844) was the grandfather of Babu Keshab Chandra Sen[1]

Born at Gariffa village on the banks of the Hooghly River, he proceeded to Calcutta for his education in 1791 (at the age of seven)[2] "He worked for several years in a Hindustani press after which he was appointed as a clerk in the Asiatic Society". [3]
