Stadium plans

On 20/08/07 Hearts revealed their plans for the redevelopment of the new stand which has helped to ease some of the pressure from the fans. While Romanov is excentric and seems to make bizzare decisions regarding team selection he does seem to be delivering in some aspects. The sale of Craig Gordon to Sunderland for £9m was undoubtedly a great peice of business and by increasing the capacity of Tynecastle to 23,000 by creating a new stand it shows he clearly has some ambition for Hearts.

The details of the redevelopment of the main stand are as follows:

-The club will submit an application for a new 10,000-seat Main Stand, plus hotel and leisure facilities

-The newly-developed stadium will ultimately lead to the creation of over 300 new jobs and provide an economic boost of at least £1.2m per season to both the immediate area and the wider city economy

-The total cost of the development will be £51 million

-250 new full-time jobs will be created and 57 part-time

Romanov

It seems obvious, from what I have read here, that Romanov is the problem at Hearts, not the players. I don't follow the SPL that closely so only know what I have read here. Hearts record scorer in a single season is not Fred Flintstone's best pal Barney Rubble, but is actually BARNEY BATTLES.

Is it possible for me to add the signing of Fyssas into this Wiki?

I think a section about the whole Lithuanian takeover should be included, although maybe it should wait until we see how Hearts perform in the 2005-06 season and whether they make a challenge against the Old Firm.

Can we remove the bit about Murrayfield? This is a controversial topic! Tynecastle has been modified over the summer so there should now be no problem using it for Europe.

There is absolutley no sectarian rivalry behind the Edinburgh derby, I have stated this time and time again, thus I have removed it.

Country listing

Snowbound - the country is not the UK - it should be listed as Scotland - as it is with every other Scottish league side. You say in your edit summary "Anymore reverts will be reported to wikipedia" - that tells me you don't really understand how this place works. There is nothing to report to anybody - listing Scotland as the country is the standard for all Scottish sides - by constantly editing in the UK (which is not the standard and not the long term consensus of other wikipedia editors) your edits may be construed as purposeful vandalism. If you disagree with the situation then post here and other editors will chip in with their views, but don't start a revert war - that is not cool. SFC9394 14:54, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

It's not listing the country, it's the ADDRESS of the ground. The address should end United Kingdom. No UK postal address uses Scotland, England etc. Scotland is also a nation by the way, NOT a country. Our country is called the United Kingdom.

As for the issue at hand - it is not an address - it neither gives a street, or the postcode - and no other club page treats it as an address. I will repeat with absolute clarity for you - no other scottish league side has uk added - indeed no other english side even has a country listed. I will also state with 100% clarity here snowbound (since I have just seen the personal attack you made against me on the Rangers talk page[1]) that the way you are going about this is not going to get you anywhere. This is a collaboratively built encyclopedia - collaboration, discussion and consensus decide what does and does not go in, and using foul language against me is not going to help your case one bit. The very small number of edits you have made have all being doing the same thing, and this suggest you are only here to push your POV, not contribute positively to the encyclopedia. Don't make personal attacks against other editors - that is a warnable offence - and don't change this article text back without coming up with substantive and valid reasoning for why it should go against the standards used by every other side in Scotland (and England). I know this is off the topic but to the guy who stated 'Scotland is also a nation by the way, NOT a country' is wrong. It has already been agreed on the Scotland page that Scotland is both a country and a nation. You are getting country and sovereign state mixed up. Also on the Downing Street web site it describes Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland as Countries within a country. Therefore Scotland is a country and nation and the UK is a country, nation and sovereign state. So please get your facts right. Just got kinda ticked off sorry people.

So according to Snowbound's opinions, which he appears to want to ram down everyone else's throats, we're not allowed to have our own national identities any more? I'm English, but please don't hold it against me all you scots reading this ;-), my friends and neighbours to the north of that particular border are Scottish, my neighbours to the west are Welsh, and my neighbours further west and over the sea are (north of their own border) Northern Irish - how dare you try and force us to take on your own pile of PC nonsense. Snowbound - listen to this bit carefully, and hopefully you might understand and learn something: yes, we all live in the UK, but there are 4 different nations as far as the sport of football is concerned (amongst other things) please explain exactly when the UK football association and UK football league system were formed, as it appears to have passed everyone else by completely. Sure, from a political point of view, we are linked in many ways, but that does NOT apply to football, and this article is about a football club - get your facts right and stop being so darned pedantic!!!

Listmania

I removed the list an anon editor had added as I thought it was becoming a bit listcrufty. I hope that is ok. On a similar note, I wonder how we can format the notable players section so it doesn't dominate the article. Any thoughts? --Guinnog 18:32, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, you are right about the lists, although adding the coaching staff (what the anon had added in list form) is quite common on more developed articles and probably worthy of inclusion. If you look at the Celtic and Rangers articles, their non-playing staff sections just about go as far as listing the tea lady!

I think the notable players section would better suit its own page - see List of Arsenal F.C. players or List of Chelsea F.C. players as examples - with a link from the main page and through the Template:Heart of Midlothian F.C..

Similarly, the History, particularly the Romanov era section, is also getting quite long and probably also needs moved out, similar to what has recently happened with the Scotland article. I imagine this would be a time-consuming and daunting task though, as major work is required to expand the earlier eras and remove the bias towards the recent. I have re-added the non-playing staff, more or less in the format used on the Celtic and Rangers pages. Given that the larger lists created by User:DavyJAllan are now on separate linked pages, I thought their addition would add something without verging on listcruft. John Rebus

In his book "Mortal Causes", the writer Ian Rankin portrays Rebus as a Hearts supporter. But in the SMG television production, he comes across as supporting Hibs! Millbanks 08:21, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Hearts Record Signing

On January 31st Heart of Midlothian paid the Belgian side Racing Genk £0.85 million for their Bosnian international winger Mirsad Beslija.

This was a significant sum of money for Hearts as he became the clubs record signing. Since signing for Hearts Besliga made only a handfull of appearances even though he was reasonably well liked by the fans.
