Denver International School teaches children from pre-kindergarten (age ~3) through 5th grade (age ~11). Established in 1977 by a group of French parents, it has since added Spanish and Mandarin programs. In lower grades, children learn entirely in the language of their chosen program, but as they progress through the school, the percentage of English is increased. The school is currently located in the Park Hill neighborhood in Denver, about a mile east of the zoo on 1958 Elm St. The school has approximately 250 students.
