While Lacus (initially) acted as a bit naive, Meer's personality is more ditzy; she tends to be very excitible, and acts a bit childish at times (especially when Athrun is near), however, we have seen glimpses that she (like Lacus) may be smarter than she looks. Meer has also taken Lacus' image as a pop star a bit further, singing more upbeat versions of her songs, more dancing, more revealing attire, [[breast implant|breast augmentation]], etc. However, all this fame may be going to her head, as evidenced when Athrun atempted to convince her to escape Gibraltar with him, she refused claiming that she ''was'' Lacus, and that she preferred to be Lacus. Meer Campbell is a character from the anime series Gundam Seed Destiny. Her body and face are surgically altered to be a body double for Lacus Clyne. Template:Spoiler
Meer Campbell is a large fan of Lacus Clyne who was hired by Gilbert Dullindal to pose as Lacus in order to calm the people following the "Break the World" incident. Realizing that Lacus possed a very large political influence (even greater than his), Gilbert has used Meer as his political puppet to gain large support among the populace for his politics. While most people are unable to tell the difference, Athrun, Kira, and most of the major characters in the CF can easily tell she is not the real Lacus.
While Lacus (initially) acted as a bit naive, Meer's personality is more ditzy; she tends to be very excitible, and acts a bit childish at times (especially when Athrun is near), however, we have seen glimpses that she (like Lacus) may be smarter than she looks. Meer has also taken Lacus' image as a pop star a bit further, singing more upbeat versions of her songs, more dancing, more revealing attire, breast augmentation, etc. However, all this fame may be going to her head, as evidenced when Athrun atempted to convince her to escape Gibraltar with him, she refused claiming that she was Lacus, and that she preferred to be Lacus. (Both of which are possible early symptoms of schizophrenia). Her imposture is revealed by the real Lacus after the Battle of Onogoro.
Following these events, Dullindal sends Meer into hiding while things settle down. She, along with her bodyguard, are sent to the free lunar city of Copernicus. Ironically, the Archangel, after being assigned to Orb's 2nd Space Fleet, also lands on Copernicus with the real Lacus Clyne in tow. Meer's bodyguard Sara informs her of the Archangel's presence in Copernicus and tells her that the other one may be there with them. She then suggests to Meer (constantly recognizing her as Lacus) to do something about it. As Kira, Athrun, Lacus, and Meyrin Hawke go shopping, Meer's Red Haro appears to them and gives a note to Lacus saying that Meer is going to be killed (or as the letter says "I'm going to killed! -Meer"). Athrun is wary that it may be a trap, but Kira and Lacus decide to go anyway.
Meer meets with them in an empty ampitheater surrounded by armed men. Meer desperately clings the belief she is Lacus Clyne as Lacus tries to calm her down, telling Meer she is her own person with her own dreams, even if she looks and sounds like Lacus now. Meer threatens to shoot Lacus, but is stopped by Athrun, who shoots the gun out of her hand. Lacus, unwittingly, enters the view of Sara, Meer's bodyguard (who is also lying in wait) when Torii appears and alerts Athrun to the threat. A firefight ensues as Athrun manages to take down most of the armed men and seriously injure Sara with a deflected grenade.
Neo Lorrnoke arrives in the Akatsuki after the firefight to evacuate Kira and the rest of them, including Meer. As Meer and Lacus climb onto the hand of the Akatsuki, Sara struggles to fire one more shot at Lacus. Meer decides to take the bullet while Athrun kills Sara. As Meer dies, she gives a picture of herself before she was altered to look like Lacus Clyne, and after apologizing to Lacus for what she's done, dies in her arms.
