PHP Bot Question
Hi, Cobi!
I have a question that I'm hoping you can help me with. SatyrBot is written much like ClueBot - PHP classes, functions that mirror the API functions, etc. One issue I'm having is that results are often returned with UTF8-encoding, or something like that. So when the bot retrieves Category:Lesbian writers (for example), one of the entries is Ana MarÃa Simo, with that funny character in the middle. It should return Ana María Simo, or even better still, Ana_María_Simo.
Do you know if there's a way to force the encoding of the returned info? Or (if need be) massage the returned data to encode it properly? Many thanks! SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 15:25, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hrm - I haven't really had that problem before. And as long as you aren't doing any weird string manipulations on it, whatever it is encoded with when returned from the API should work to be posted back.
