London Buses route 40 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. The service is currently contracted to London Central.
History
The 40 dates back to the 1950s, and originally ran from Wanstead to Herne Hill.
In 1994 the Southern terminus was switched from Herne Hill to Dulwich, The northern terminus being Blackwall DLR station . With the opening of the Jubilee Line Extension in 1999 the route was withdrawn between Blackwall and Aldgate.
