Recall effort

Perez was the subject of a recall campaign which failed. Citizens for Responsible Government-Sheboygan launched the recall effort July 7, 2006, stating that Perez was "failing to uphold his mayoral duties in office with integrity and professionalism," a claim that was loosely based on the most appropriate location for a new police station. The group had collected 4,013 signatures by September 5, 2006. The recall effort failed that day at 4:00pm. Since the recall effort, the city population has not been at odds with Perez.
