why delate my article on prof. Albrecht ?

Hi! This is a copy of what I wrote on my talk about my article. My name is Thomas Hardy, I'm a french student in archeology and I'm going to a summer camp excavation in Israel next week. I'm sorry if my user name raised some confusion, I guessed I lacked of imagination. Prof. Albrecht is the professor conducting the excavation and I just made a little bio about him, based upon the information I have, as I found nothing about him on the web (I don't know him yet, as he is living in Israel). I don't know the Ezida foundation myself (I was just quoting the excavation presentation I've got), and I'll be glad to have more information about it too ! It's my first contribution to wikipedia, what can I do to fix the problem my article raised ? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ezidafoundation (talkcontribs)

Controversy

I would like to informo you about a controversy I am having about this article and I would like to ask your opinion on the matter if you have some free time.

As I stated on spesific article discussion pages...

Hey TPH

It's me, HisSpaceResearch. You may remember me from many AfDs that we both participated in. Basically, I've been mostly inactive on Wikipedia for around three and a half months, and I've only decided to come back just now (I started using huggle for the first time today, kinda testing the tool). Meanwhile, you've been editing a lot as usual, looking through your contribs, and I'm noticing you're still not an administrator, and en.wikipedia would totally benefit if you were one (I mean, you've got about 500 contribs within the past 48 hours or so, and in comparison my past 500 contribs date back to February). Do you want me to write an RfA for you? It's been quite a few months since your last one anyway, and I can see no good reason why you shouldn't be an admin.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 13:22, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you are interested, leave a note on my talk page. Thanks.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 20:21, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We all make mistakes; that's what WP:BOLD is for. I don't think there's reason to be afraid of coming under other editors' scrutiny, although it can be a gruelling process. I honestly can't see why other editors would have reason to criticise you because you've done so much work here on Wikipedia that you deserve praise more than anything else. Nobody's perfect. I'd like to write an RfA for you, but I'll leave you time to decide.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 20:40, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re: Sugarland

Unless there is a name conflict or need for disambiguation (Sweet Sensation / Sweet Sensation (band)), musical groups are classified as (band) - a band can consist of two people. Even girl groups have band: see TLC (band) or Wink (band). Same general idea, even though the members of those "bands" do not play the instruments. - eo (talk) 17:59, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any idea why the category names have (duo) in them? "Sugarland" (the word) is disambiguated, but none of the others are music or band associated. The categories should simply be "Sugarland albums" or "Sugarland songs", whether the Wikipedia article title said (duo) or (band). Right? - eo (talk) 22:21, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah but what Im saying is, regardless of the band's article title, the categories should not say (duo) in it. It's like having "Category:The Beatles (band) albums". I don't think there is anything wrong with (band) as every other disambiguated band has, well, "(band)" in the title. I'd consider The White Stripes to be a band and there are only two members. Ya know? - eo (talk) 22:29, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I do understand your thinking, but I am also going by how things have been changed in the 3 years I've been editing here. A lot of articles used to have "(group)" or (girl group)" or (dance group)", etc., etc., etc. and slowly they were all changed to conform to "(band)". In conversation I certainly wouldn't call TLC a "band" however that seems to be the term used to disambiguate in Wikipedia and to try to maintain uniformity. However, if you feel strongly enough perhaps this could be brought up on one of the Music Project talk pages? I'd have to do a little searching to see if something definite is already stated on this. Regardless tho, those categories need to be fixed... whether the article itself says (duo) or (band), the categories should not have either. - eo (talk) 22:38, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, let me get the new cats started and articles moved over, then I'll zap the old ones. - eo (talk) 22:52, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done and done. If you need other requests like this just let me know... and if you find out anything about "(band)" before I do, message me! - eo (talk) 23:05, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes. Thanks - got 'em. - eo (talk) 23:22, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meh, who needs talk pages???  :-P I responded to it; let's see what others think.... hopefully someone is paying attention. - eo (talk) 12:08, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree with you on the Leslie Satcher category.... one article in there seems rather silly. Not sure why others would not vote for deletion. Are you re-nominating it? - eo (talk) 12:20, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Someone has responded to the naming conventions issue - let's hope there are more who will participate - eo (talk) 11:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey - since there is also The Sugarlands, I would suggest creating something like Sugarland (disambiguation) or Sugar Land (disambiguation). Then of course update all the links-here stuff, etc., etc. - eo (talk) 11:35, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but very very similar and personally I think a disambig page would be a good idea. Lots of singular/plural disambig pages. Also makes it easier to add standard {{otheruses|Sugarland (disambiguation)}} tag to all of the articles. - eo (talk) 11:41, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's the idea, yes. Although if you create a disambiguation page, you can put the same hatnote on all three articles leading to the same place... better than two different hatnotes on all the pages leading to each individual article. - eo (talk) 11:52, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

:) Byeitical (talk) 19:14, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Give me a break - I am trying my best on this article. However, you are totally correct with the tags you have added. As always, with the lesser lights in pop music, finding citable, references is not easy. Anyhow, why the interest in this subject matter? Best wishes,

Derek R Bullamore (talk) 22:45, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You voted in this AFD that I started. It is only fair to mention that there has been a substantial change to the article since I nominated it for deletion, in that it now has a release date and a title. You may or may not wish to rethink your vote.
Kww (talk) 14:21, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Enough? Just barely, but if I was in a different mood, I could go for no. I'm not lobbying ... I just thought it was enough of a change that people should at least think about their stance again.

Sorry about your RfA, TPH. Who knows, maybe it'll succeed next time. Best of luck. —Mizu onna sango15Hello! 17:20, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bah, I say, bah. Couple of thoughts from me for leading in to the next time: Keep doing the diverse editing, and maybe move away from deletion a little more. Most of the complaints that came up involved what people thought were questionable speedy noms and a few AFD noms. I think that was a little more than really necessary, personally - for example, I'm firmly in the "why the hell do we keep obvious hoaxes, they should be speedy bait" category, which unfortunately doesn't have a lot of traction - but ah well. Keep up the GA reviewing and maybe move into some other maintenance areas - categorizing, recent changes patrolling, stuff like that to get some experience on some other aspects of the encyclopedia. Are you in any WikiProjects? You could maybe join some of those and get the collaborative stuff going on, build some awareness that way. Be really gentle in dealing with people who bark at you, because people really pick up on those incidents. Finally... March, at the earliest, should be when you next try again - and I'll be happy to put the nom together if you like at that point. I think you're one of the good guys around here, but a few slips is all it takes to get nailed, sadly. Keep up all the good work, in the meantime... Tony Fox (arf!) 18:58, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If I had known TPH was being considered as an administrator I would have supported him.  :( I don't track these things well enough apparently. JBsupreme (talk) 19:37, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:CA 70

Alright, thanks for your advice, I'll look over the article and see what I can do. Sorry about the failed RfA while I'm here, if it makes you feel any better I've only been here long enough to see your sixth one :) CL22:03, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bah

It's just stupid. You have over 60k (thousand) contribs. I stopped paying attention to RFA some months ago, because of the hyprocasy I see (WP:NOBIGDEAL is farce anymore), and these kind of things get me a little more disgruntled with the project (which also explains my own self-imposed withdrawal). Yngvarr (t) (c) 22:35, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that quite a few didn't like how you were "immature", we need to give you training to be more aloof and maybe a little more elitist in your ways. I, however, know I'm too immature to take the mop so doubt I'll get it soon. Still, here's to RfA #12, the successful one. And did I not tell you about how WP:NBD and the message it communicates has been lost in the mêlée of the domino effect of several opposes, usually for crummy and personal ethical reasons? Feh, one day they might see you as one of them but if they do... will the otters wear little crowns? treelo radda 00:23, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well I'm a few days after the fact but I also think it's a shame. On the bright side of things, the criticism was crystal clear. It would be a plus to have you as an admin so you should perhaps heed the advice. But I think it's also important to realize that it is fair criticism: it's ok to be on the deletionist side of the spectrum but this should make you even more cautious in, say, speedy tagging. (And I don't mean: "be more cautious or you'll make enemies", I mean: "realize that you're ready to delete more articles than the average Wikipedian so be more cautious out of respect for the average Wikipedian"). RfA

It's a pity about the constant !RfA. I was actually thinking about nominating you right now, and noticed that you'd just withdrawn one today. What a strange process RfA has become - and I remember a time when people vowed to support mine if I had but 750 edits. On the matter, I think I will just wait for someone else to nominate me so I can avoid all the painful rejection. Please withdraw the AfD on Dixie Lullaby

Hello! Please be advised that I just created a new article for Dixie Lullaby: A Story of Music, Race and New Beginnings in a New South. This was cited on the dab page for Dixie Lullaby, which you nominated for AfD consideration. Considering the inclusion of this new article on that dab page, I would respectfully request that you please withdraw the AfD. Thank you. Ecoleetage (talk) 13:13, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you are 100% unable to flesh out articles (or even healthy stubs) on the other titles, then I would agree with your course of action to redirect Dixie Lullaby to the book and close the AfD, as per this solution. Thanks. Ecoleetage (talk) 15:37, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A few questions

Hello! I was wondering, if you have any free time on your hands, I'd like to ask you if you could create a discogrpahy for Rodney Crowell. The other day I fixed it to some extent, but usually when I create discographies, I tend to forget to put down info, such as Categories. So, if you could do that for me, it'd be much appreciated!

Also, I noticed Billy Ray Cyrus has been tagged to be re-written. In what sort of way? I'm not fully understanding "lack of cohesion?" It needs to be re-written, I would be more than happy to do so. Thanks! EnDaLeCoMpLeX (talk) 20:37, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sara Evans

I thought if "Love You With All Me Heart" failed to chart that you don't need to indicate it with the "fail to chart" letter "A." I would think that people would get it. Is it just me, or is every popular female country artists' success declining, like Sara, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, and others.

As you said about editing country articles, no problem, it's what I like to do. I will look into using the "cite web" thing. It does look kinda difficult, sometimes you don't know the publisher or author. Dottiewest1fan (talk) 22:28, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
