Secunderabad, one of the twin cities in Andhra Pradesh, India was once called as Laskar as it was mostly a cantonment area occupied by French and British people. Barkas was the outer most area of Secunderabad which had French soldiers with set outposts and were prepared to wage war against the ruler of Hyderabad (then called as Bhagyanagaram).
