:There are a number of websites out there saying that Columbus's fleet had copper sheathing, i.e. [http://www.spirasolaris.ca/sbb4g1cv.html], [http://www.copper.org.sg/v2/index.php/page/index/10/], and [http://www.outdoordecor.com/LearningCenter/History/Facts_About_Copper.html]. But there are also sites that say that the first copper sheathed ship was the frigate ''Alarm'' in 1761 (see here [http://www.oldcopper.org/hms%20victory%20copper.htm] and here [http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/copper-sheathing.htm]). I am a bit doubtful of the Columbus story; why would it take the Royal Navy 269 years to follow Columbus's example? - There are a number of websites out there saying that Columbus's fleet had copper sheathing, i.e. [7], [8], and [9]. But there are also sites that say that the first copper sheathed ship was the frigate Alarm in 1761 (see here [10] and here [11]). I am a bit doubtful of the Columbus story; why would it take the Royal Navy 269 years to follow Columbus's example?
