Coláiste Chiaráin was opened in 1980 to provide second level education to the local area of Leixlip and Celbridge, in Ireland. It has nearly 600 students and about 50 staff including office staff, teachers and two caretakers. It has received many science and sporting awards and boasts a big fully equipped sports hall. Coláiste Chiaráin, is known locally as "Colaiste" and its motto is "Tús Feasa Fiafraí" which means (in Gaelic) "Enquiry is the beginning of knowledge".

Saundatron

John Saunders (born November 13, 1989) is an Irish record producer from Leixlip, Co.Kildare. He is best known for his YouTube remixes which in total have recieved just over 5,500 views, not bad for someone who doesn't have proper equipment or money to back him up. Saunders only started mixing/producing in March 2008 but has already become a hit, around Kildare and Dublin anyway. HIs YouTube channel, Saundatron08 boasts over 380 hits and his peronal profile/biography can be seen on his web page www.bebo.com/Saundatron With money being raised all the time so he can start his own label Saundatron Records the world is this boy's oyster. Slowly but surely he is getting more and more attention, attracting more and more press. He announced on his bebo page that a website was currently under construction to keep his fans "updated right down to the last second". Saunders is maybe well known to many for the piece written about him in Irish teen magazine Face Up where someone wrote in that they'd heard he went on a couple of dates with 17 year old (then 15 year old) American teen actress Jamie Lynn Spears while holidaying in Louisiana in 2006 for two weeks. Saunders nor Spears have ever confirmed/denied this rumor. Spears wanted to team up with Saunders on this 'Follow Me' remix ever since one day she randomly clicked on and heard his smash hit Caman Caman and realised his amazing talent

School Groups

Prefects

Prefects are a group of students installed by the Principal and the Deputy Principal. They perform auxiliary functions such as assisting teaching staff and the minding of junior students at break times. The Head Boy and Head Girl (Highest in the Prefect order) are given keys to classrooms.

Gluais

A group made up of both 6th Years and Transition Years. Its primary function is to assist first years adjust to life in secondary school, having just come from primary school a totally different system. They regularly organise competitions for first years, such as table quizzes and theatre productions on the school's stage.

Green Schools

The School is also proud of its Green Schools initiative, partly funded by local industry including Intel, that encourages recycling and conservation of energy. Intel also regularly donates computers to the school
