Plot
In the North Atlantic a giant deep sea oil rig is being built. The oil rig is named "Colossus" for its size and the amount of oil it can receive. Nexecon Petroleum workers are drilling for oil in shark infested waters on this rig. This "new" type of oil rig will dig deeper, and extract more oil than current rigs. The fact that this huge rig is being built alarms geologists around the world. They are concerned that delicate ocean floor fault lines could be disturbed with catastrophic consequences. News reporter Christen Giddings and her cameraman Jake Thompson are invited by the CEO of Nexexcon, Peter Brazier, to document the oil rig. They don't believe anything bad will happen, and are skeptical of the geologists. Brazier hopes their report will calm the geologist, and prove once and for all the safety of his new rig. Once the drill is turned on, it is revealed the geologists were correct in the fact that it would rupture an "ocean floor fault line". The rupture opens a portal to a "mirror" ocean hidden under the normal ocean for millions of years. This ocean contains prehistoric life, and although oil is flowing out, so are the prehistoric animals. An explosion occurs and the entire oil rig begins to buckle and collapse. A team of highly skilled engineers descend in Colossus' glass elevator to assess the damage and come face to face with the most powerful and fearsome oceanic predator that ever lived, Carcharodon Megalodon.
