Fantastic
Should be a great portal. -- ßottesiηi (talk) 23:10, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Second that, it's looking very nice already! :-) Madder 12:54, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
ideas
How about a list of articles for very influential ocmposers or compositions? --Snailey! 21:26, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Updating
As of now, I am aiming for updating this once a month on the first of every month. If more interest develops, this can certainly happen more frequently. Any user may suggest and discuss content for next month by simply bringing it up on this talk page. I look forward to any and all suggestions, requests, and thoughts people may have. Thanks, Dar-Ape 03:05, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

- Anyone may update sections if he or she should feel so inclined, or one may instead choose to bring it up here to discuss first. No membership is necessary, and no formal processes are yet established. Dar-Ape 01:00, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- However, you can become a member of the Wikipedia Classical Music project by adding {{User WPClassical}} to your userpage, as I have done. ~~MusicalConnoisseur~~ 05:59, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Update
I thought it was getting a little stale so I updated the selected article and image and added a quote and DYK. -- ßottesiηi (talk) 00:11, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Also, may I suggest a broader, more accessible intro paragraph? -- ßottesiηi (talk) 17:26, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the updates! I have added a box with the major styles, taken from the French classical music portal. That portal seems quite well done, and I think we could get more ideas from there-- I would suggest changing out picture to theirs (Image:MDLG.jpg). As for a new featured picture, I like Image:ViolinCarving.JPG, but I hesitate to use this right now since we currently already have an article and picture devoted to another string instrument. Any ideas? Finally, yes, I think a rewrite of the first paragraph is in order. Dar-Ape 05:32, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- I changed the opening paragraph a bit. Also, why not spell out "Portal:Classical music" followed by its extension? It may be a bit confusing. There is no need to respond to this. -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 20:52, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Relieved
Last time I checked back here, the page was...not too pretty. The colors chosen were horrible.
Now, I'm glad to say, someone has come along and covered it with a beautiful skin. Kudos to whoever did it! ~~MusicalConnoisseur~~ Got Classical?

Update
The news for this portal obviously needs to be updated--June 2 happened so long ago, mind. Thanks.--~~MusicalConnoisseur~~ Got Classical? 17:44, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- I added Plácido Domingo's records as the biggest repertoire - 130 roles by 27th Nov, 2007. - Jay (talk) 11:00, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the contribs. I found a website with really up-to-date news...they've got loads of stuff here. While I'm at it, we might want to expand the DYK section. I'll see to it now. --~~MusicalConnoisseur~~ Got Classical? 04:44, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
"On this day..."
Is it possible to have an "On this day..." section, with composers' birthdays and influential works, like in Wikipedia's main page? --User:Deafussy 19:29, 25 February 2008
- A novel idea, truly, but what will we write about? Beethoven's Heiligenstadt Testament? When Mozart's Symphony No. 40 was composed? When Carnegie Hall was opened? Frankly, I don't think there is enough material out there on which to base a section of that nature, especially on a daily basis (quite demanding). --~~MusicalConnoisseur~~ Got Classical? 05:28, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Selected pictures
I noticed that there are approximately eight selected pictures, but only three of them are available. Is there any viable explanation as to why? --LaPianísta! 15:46, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Media section
It's a music-related portal. What about adding a section with audio of the classical masterworks on Wikipedia already or YouTube? --User:Deafussy 21:09, 10 May 2008
Forthcoming events in news section
Does anybody object to my listing future events in the news section? The involve the retirement of the world's best known piano trio, one of the best known pianists and one of the best known string quartets. They can sit there without going out of date for a while.--Peter cohen (talk) 11:21, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Changed of overall format / layout
I have changed the layout and format - Jay (talk) 15:24, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- I like the layout, but the featured picture looks a leetle kooky (jutting out of the border). I'm also not a big fan of the colors. Perhaps black and gray would look nicer? With some fancy transparency? —La Pianista (T•C•S•R) 22:49, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- I believe what is more important now is the content. The portal has been "abandoned" for quite sometime. About the color, it is up to majority's idea. I changed it because the former colors are too dull. I am in a process of changing contents and create archived pages like what I do for Portal:Opera (the contents are updated every month). I will post suggestion contents in Classical Music talk page, feel free to suggest for contents. I wil update Portal:Opera first. If we have volunteer to manage this portal, it is even better, so I can concentrate to Portal:Opera only. - Jay (talk) 02:44, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- I will be more than willing to volunteer (I'm hungry for a serious task); but first, what exactly needs to be worked on, in your opinion, before I accept? —La Pianista (T•C•S•R) 03:32, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Great, read at CM talkpage (bottom page). I have list down some of the tasks to do every month and the most important is, this portal content must not clash with Opera portal contents - Jay (talk) 03:37, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Fantastique, thanks for your collaboration, Jay. :) —La Pianista (T•C•S•R) 03:48, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
