As of September 2008, the discography of Wolfmother, an Australian hard rock band, consists of one studio album, two extended plays (EPs), six singles and one video album.
Wolfmother was formed in 2000 by vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale, bassist and keyboardist Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett.[1] The band signed with Modular Recordings and released the EP Wolfmother in 2004,[2] which entered the ARIA Singles Chart at #35.[3] In 2005 they released their full-length debut, also self-titled, in Australia,[2] where it peaked at #3.[3] The album was subsequently released in Europe (through Island Records) and the United States (through Interscope Records) in 2006.[1][2] Six singles were released from Wolfmother, the highest-charting of which was "Joker & the Thief" which peaked in Australia at #8.[3] The album went on to sell over 1.3 million copies worldwide,[4] and has been certified five times platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association[5] and gold by the Canadian Recording Industry Association,[6] the British Phonographic Industry[7] and the Recording Industry Association of America.[8]
In August 2008, Ross left Wolfmother due to "irreconcilable personal and musical differences",[9] and was immediately followed by Heskett.[10] Stockdale is currently planning on finding new musicians to continue the Wolfmother moniker,[10] with a second album planned for release in early 2009.[4]
