Blood Brothers is a 13 minute short film on HIV-AIDS directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. The film is one from the sequence of short films made on HIV AIDS on behalf of the Bill Gates foundation. It is written by Matthew Robbins.
Blood Brothers feature Ayesha Takia and Siddharth of (Rang De Basanti fame) in lead roles. Vishal has managed to rope in Hollywood’s top cinematographer Guillermo Navarroto shoot his film. The movie recently premiered at Toronto Film Festival.
Plot
It is based on HIV AIDS.
The film runs around a successful advertising campaign manager's life named Arjun Dutt(Siddharth). When all of a sudden during a routine medical check up he discovers that he is HIV positive. He is totally devastated and instead of facing the truth and telling his pregnant wife and son he runs away from his home and job.
While wandering like a beggar through the trains he is robbed by a group of thugs who beat him up and leave him on the platform. Then a doctor (Pankaj Kapoor) takes him to his hospital. After coming to his senses Siddharth tries to go but is stopped by the doctor. Pankaj Kapoor conducts another test to find that Siddharth is actually HIV negative.
Siddharth returns to his family and while searching through his previous doctors record discovers that a certain another patient with the same name was HIV positive while he was always negative. Now, he is faced with a dilemma of telling that happy man this bad news or just remain a coward like before.
