Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Newcomers help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I noticed you are known only as an IP address; that means you are not signed up. To sign up, you only need to click Create account and choose a username and password. You don't need to provide any personal information. If you sign up, you'll have a username that others can use to recognize you and leave you messages on the wiki. You'll be able to sign your name just by typing four tildes (~~~~) when you leave someone else a message. Plus, you (and others) will easily be able to see a list of all your contributions to Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, ask at the Village pump, or feel free to ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --Dmcdevit 04:41, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

A special invitation to join Wikipedia as a member.

Welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia! You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires you to provide no personal information, and gives you many benefits, including:

  • The use of a username of your choice
  • The ability to view all your contributions via a "My contributions" link
  • Your own user page
  • Your own talk page which, if you choose, also allows users to send you messages without knowing your e-mail address
  • The use of your own personal watchlist to which you can add articles that interest you
  • The ability to rename pages
  • The ability to upload images
  • The ability to customize the appearance and behavior of the website
  • The eligibility to become an administrator
  • The right to be heard in formal votes and elections, and on pages like votes for deletion

We hope that you choose to become a Wikipedian and create an account.

Please stop adding nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you were just trying to experiment, then use the sandbox instead. Thank you. --nixie 06:29, 3 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Triple S Solutions

To the guy tryng to add an ad for "Triple S Solutions:" Last friendly warning to please knock it off. This is not your personal advertising site. One more edit of that nature and you will be reported for vandalism and your IP blocked from further editing. - 67.52.188.182 17:23, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. See the welcome page to learn more. Thanks. Elf-friend 10:33, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Giuseppe Verdi

Please do not delete content from articles on Wikipedia, as you did to Giuseppe Verdi. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Stephen Burnett 18:39, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Ryan (given name). When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 18:20, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That is true. Unfortunately this is a shared IP address, used by more than 64000 users. Despite attempts to alert people to this someone called "Thatcher" has apparently "confirmed" that only 1 person has ever used this server. It would be best if wikipedia became members-only as I am quite frankly sick and tired of this. I can check the edit logs and know that I never made the majority of edits that my IP has, yet am bombarded by warnings for the vandalism of others. 41.245.165.140 (talk) 06:56, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing, such as the edit you made to Womanizer (song). If your vandalism continues, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. — Realist2 20:53, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Colin Mochrie has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. - Icewedge (talk) 07:18, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
