"Attack of the Mutant Guppies" is an episode of Garfield and Friends. It was the 75th episode to be produced for the series, although it is listed as the 72nd episode on the Garfield and Friends DVD. It originally aired on October 21, 1989.
Episode recap
Garfield and Rosalina catch Nermal opening the refrigerator in the middle of the night, but Nermal explains that she’s looking for food for her pet guppy, not her. Garfield warns her not to do so, and then he tells Nermal a story about giant, radioactive, mutant guppies that live in the sewer.
According to the story, people take guppies that they don’t want as pets and dump them down the sewer. The person who does so is Rosalina's younger sister Rosalinda. The guppies then absorb the chemicals that people also pour down the sewer, and they eventually turn into mutant guppies. After the story concludes, Nermal tries to go to sleep, but she is unable to because she is afraid the guppies will get her. She wakes Garfield up and tells him this, to which Garfield states that he made the legend up and Rosalinda is faraway.
