Hah. You're a sharp guy. I just find it funny that you found it and deleted it. I'm sorry for offending you in any way if I did.

The above banned user is back as an IP (more or less admitted it on my talk page) as User talk:92.0.122.142 any chance of doing something about him or at least protecting the pages he is messing up? --Snowded TALK 17:54, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Snowded, my edits wernt making a mess. I found a reliable source and sourced my edit just like you all been telling me to do. I want to proove to you that i should have my block taken off. - Exucse me answer my question. Did i, or did i not ask for help some 5 weeks ago but you all failed to respond? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.0.122.142 (talk) 09:22, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
You just have something against me! I want to edit correctly but you need to give me a chance. I am not into messing you all about but if you dont give me chance i will turn against wikipedia and make stupid edits on all the computers i can get my hand on and engourage my friends to do the same. You encouraged me to talk to my blocker but all you have done is come on here, pretty much slag me off saying i am going to muck stuff up. Prehabs i should report you for bullying to another admin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.0.122.142 (talk) 09:29, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

A question about editing
I was trying to edit the profile for Raydio, but it seems that when a # is starting a new line, the # automatically turns into a 1. Is there a way around this, to be able to start off a line without a # turning into a 1.? If there is a way, let me know, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, peace. Help on inclusion of images (ref: article on Nagori)
Could you please advice if it would be appropriate and acceptable to 'uncomment' the first line which is picture of the painter. Subsequently I could add images of his work (paintings) to make the article more comprehensive. Thanks again for helping me shape this first assignment of mine :) Nmansoor (talk) 18:57, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Re: Moving forward on the BC mess
I replied there, briefly, but wanted to drop a line here since you posted the same message to three of us. That aside, can I archive your talk page? :D Srsly, tho... can I? Jennavecia (Talk) 02:58, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Re:speedy tagging
Oh, thanks so much for telling me! I use a bot (Huggle), and I forgot to check the last revision, which was blatant vandalism. LaPianista! «talk» 01:51, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Well said
What you said here. I found myself agreeing absolutely. It applies to all editors, and not just administrators and arbitrators. The key, in my view, is to know yourself and try and be aware of whether past or present associations are clouding your judgment. Some people, I think, do care about that and consciously try to avoid favoritism when there is a conflict of interest. Others are not really aware of it. And then there are those who are aware of it, and show favoritism, but deny it, to others and maybe to themselves as well. Carcharoth (talk) 18:26, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
RfA thanks
A note
I just saw your name pop up in my watchlist, which reminded me to thank you for this comment, which I found very amusing. :) I'd also like to compliment you on how articulate you are: I have admired you for that for a very long time. Best wishes. Acalamari 22:51, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Gee thanks for the nice compliments. Happy I brightened your day. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson (talk) 01:14, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
I had not seen your note at RFPP until I got your message. I agree that the software does have some measure of notability, but the version that was deleted was very spammy and had been recreated by the same user immed. after deletion. How's this for a compromise... I'll reduce what was there to a NPOV stub, along with the PC Mag review you found, and we'll let it grow organically. Sound good? caknuck ° is geared up for football season 20:52, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- I was already halfway through my stubification, so it was too late for the lazy route. Oh well. Let me know if you're OK with the stub in its current form. caknuck ° is geared up for football season 21:12, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi, you deleted the written piece about Aaron Gilmore citing copyright violation when the content is in fact copyright to Aaron Gilmore himself and was allowed to be published on the website http://www.national.org.nz by Aaron. I was trying to add the piece in about Aaron as he is a candidate for the Christchurch East electorate. There are other candidates with roughly similar pages discussing their prior history and I believe it is of public interest to know about Aaron's background when looking to vote. There wad nothing in there that was overly strong promoting Aaron, it seemed quite standard. Are you able to re-instate this deletion or where do we go from here? Regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nzbase (talk • contribs) 03:41, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia is a place for people to find out information regarding a public figure or someone who could potentially be a public figure and of importance. If Wikipedia is not the place for people to research background information on a political candidate (which is what I'm trying to provide) then why on earth are there so many other political candidates across the whole of Wikipedia? The idea here is to provide information to anyone trying to make an informed decision on voting in a general election. Where's the soapboxing in that? Many of the other New Zealand election candidates have Wikipedia pages. Why have you removed this one and not every other one that's out there for every other country? I would suggest it's because this is useful information for someone researching who they should vote for. Of course I have an interest in putting the page up. I want to see that the local electorate makes an informed choice. There is already a Wikipedia page on the incumbent MP, under general rules of fair-justice should it not be relevant for a candidate to receive the same treatment or do you believe that people only have the right to see information for currently elected politicians, not candidates? I have emailed Aaron Gilmore directly about this and he has responded with permission for this content to be published on Wikipedia. Any chance to research information and 'meet the candidate' is the best form of information that an open source encyclopedia can hope to offer to voters. Do you not agree? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nzbase (talk • contribs) 01:02, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Gladys Esclona de Motta
Good Evening,
i was just wondering, why did you delete my grandmother's page? You may not believe this but it is true. I am the granddaughter of Gladys Escalona de Motta, chancellor of the UPR of Rio Piedras campus. It's just, when i clicked on her name it said that you deleted it. I was just wondering why. You could have just left it alone.

I'd recommend blocking him now. He's had his "final warning" 3 times now and its not sinking in. I don't think we have to be further patient with this user. and honestly the excuse he gave me for the last edit I discussed with him is completely bogus.--Crossmr (talk) 02:26, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
He's now had a block and a couple more warnings, and yet he's still making edits like this: [1]. This is clearly not a vandalism edit as it was part of a larger content dispute, and this edit earlier [2], so he was using twinkle to edit war essentially and mislabel edits.--Crossmr (talk) 09:18, 25 September 2008 (UTC)- scratch that, I didn't notice the time codes and thought his block had expired and those were after the block.--Crossmr (talk) 09:19, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
It's his Twinkle that needs to go, then we'd see what he's like underneath. I suggest removing it if and when he gets things wrong so frequently again. Anyway- does he need to change his not-very-readable username? If so please let's ask him to change it and give him time to respond when he's back online, before anyone blocks him for that.Sticky Parkin 11:04, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Is there anything written up about how admins can remove automation tools from users? Is this just editing and protecting of their monobook file? I'd just like to know what the options are when helping this user. I checked new admin school and the tools page but no luck. -Optigan13 (talk) 04:39, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Blank and protect. Then require that any editions be added by the admin to make sure he doesn't add tools he can't use responsibly that is about it. After a long period of good editing his monobook could be unprotected.--Crossmr (talk) 07:25, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- This is a last resort: a number of Twinkle functionalities are helpful for completely uncontroversial tasks and blanking/protecting is an overkill. I'd rather block him for increasingly long periods if he continues to screw up. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 16:00, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, just wondering, we'll see how he responds to this block, but the relying on semi-automated tools for warning and welcoming users coupled with poor communication is where the problem is. Well there's several eyes on his talkpage so I'll just defer to yours and the other admins judgement. -Optigan13 (talk) 21:05, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm on a road trip at the moment, but I'll get right on that as soon as I'm back home. Thanks for the heads-up. Alai (talk) 10:38, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

I have come back in and seen your response on the idea that an encyclopedia should not include public figures of interest for a general election. This has to be the worst case of abusing the idea that a wiki is an evolving thing editable by the public and creating resources that the public is interested in. If you are serious about this being an incorrect use of this Wiki, please go ahead and remove every page that is linked from a name here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_lists_in_the_New_Zealand_general_election_2008 Otherwise, what you should to is follow the spirit of what I was trying to achieve and go ahead an modify the wiki that I had put up to include or not the details that you believe should be there. I can take your point that it is difficult for myself to write an objective piece on Mr Gilmore which is exactly why you should be helping to improve the content, not just blatantly removing it when it has useful information. Many of the minor politicians linked on the above page have the same sorts of details about them but you would not go ahead an delete all of them. Why? Because they provide a valuable resource as a whole as did the page I was attempting to add. Will you bring the page back and edit it in the way you see fit to be a valuable resource or are you only into deleting information?
- I'm not into "deleting stuff". But I do care about Wikipedia being used properly. While I have no doubt that extensive cleanup is needed for many politician biographies, I'd like to note that Aaron Gilmore has never been elected or held political positions of any importance. Unsurprisingly, this results in a complete absence of significant third-party coverage of his life, achievements and beliefs. In contrast, the article on John Key is referenced using a variety of solid sources. Most of the politicians on that list have had significant political careers and have received the corresponding media attention. If you want to go through the list and let me know about unreferenced biographies of minor figures for which the only source is the party's website, I'll be glad to look at them in detail. Could you take a brief glance at this use of tools
Recently I think he's been doing really well, but User:Tohd8BohaithuGh1 started using huggle the other day as another user advised him that it was faster than twinkle, and he seems to be using it for other purposes (such as removing external links [3]) as well as just removing vandalism. Is this acceptable and do others do it much? The manual for huggle only seems to mention vandalism really. We need to be firm with the guidelines as he was previously blocked, mainly for his use of Twinkle. I was happy to take on this adoptee after he had problems, but the use of tools isn't my speciality, and it seems to be something he's keen to develop. And I expect you have a good grasp of the rules and perhaps the ways people customarily use these tools and what is acceptable use. He is doing great though, I don't think he needs any discipline or anything even if this isn't a perfect use of tools, as the content of the edits is still good. I just want to make sure he is staying on track and see if I need to give him a friendly reminder. I will ask someone else too just because I just spotted you haven't been on for a few days. Hope you are well.:) Sticky Parkin 18:51, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- I posted this to User:Crossmr too but thought you would like to know. Tohd made over 550 edits (mostly rv'ing vandalism) in about the last 12 hours and no complaints appeared.:) Those that I checked were ok. You can't say he's not hard-working and keen.:) It's a fine line though...I wouldn't try to be that fast/clever.Sticky Parkin 00:11, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Serial accuser of anti-Americanism
Back in February a wikipedian left you an accusation of anti-Americanism. They left similar accusations on half a dozen user's pages. You might be interested in my invitation for them to be more specific.
Yours in cooperation and collegiality. Geo Swan (talk) 21:34, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
