False River Academy (also known on its incorporation documents as Pointe Coupee Preparatory Academy) was formed in the summer of 1969. A number of like-minded parents joined together to create an institution of learning-[shoving "students" through the disaster that is the high school education system of Louisiana] that excelled in academics[this isn't exactly true], and instilling moral values[this is false] and ethics[also false] in its students. The group of founding parents were upset with the deterioration of the local neighborhood schools[what caused this deterioration, if there really was any?] and decided to form a school that functioned like a family [somewhat true, except, it does not function like a family; it functions like another other high school in Louisiana, and that is; it does not function, it only exists, because it has to and therefore everything within False River Academy is reduced to the lowest common denominator]. False River Academy is barely above the public school system of Louisiana, and, like the majority of Louisiana, False River Academy's student body is infested with a definitive social agenda of ignorance toward any perspective outside of the local, New Roads idea of get-r-done cognitive processing and the good-ol-boy politics which plagues everything from local gas stations to the political offices of New Roads itself, which culminates into Mayor Nelson. This agenda doesn't help the teacher's with their job, but there have been very few qualified teachers at False River academy in the last 10-8 years, much less respectable ones, but there have been respectful ones. History

In conclusion, like the majority of high schools in Louisiana, and to a greater magnitude, in America, FRA serves its role as a daycare center.

False River Academy (also known on its incorporation documents as Pointe Coupee Preparatory Academy) was formed in the summer of 1969. A number of like-minded parents joined together to create an institution of learning that excelled in academics, and instilling moral values and ethics in its students. The group of founding parents were upset with the deterioration of the local neighborhood schools and decided to form a school that functioned like a family.

Temporary buildings were set up on the edge of a sugar cane field, a short distance from False River. The permanent brick buildings and gymnasium where later added as the school grew.

Faculty

The school faculty is made up of approximately 60 teachers who instruct in a wide array of disciplines[ it should be noted that FRA has hired non qualified teachers for crucial roles, and has employed part time substitutes for full-time duties, which usually resulted in disaster]. Courses include: Physical Science, Mathematics, Reading, Civics, World History, U.S. History, Physics, Science, English, French, Spanish, Geometry, Calculus, Algebra, Advanced Math, Computer Science, Journalism, Western Civilization, World Geography, Louisiana History, American History, ACT Prep, Language Arts, Health & Physical Education, Social Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Typing, and Accounting.

False River Academy mantains a close knit community of alumni and former faculity members that are still involved in the day to day operations of the school. [1]

Student body

The students at False River Academy come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Besides enrolling students from the local New Roads area, many students from throughout Pointe Coupee Parish and surrounding parishes attend this school. The school enrolls students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Athletics

False River Academy has a wide array of sports, including football, power lifting, baseball, softball, basketball, cross-country, track, volleyball, golf, and dance (Gatorettes) and cheerleading. In 1989, the school's football team won the State Championship while still a member of the Louisiana Independent School Association (LISA). The school also won several state championships in basketball in the 1970s. False River Academy is now a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association[2] (LHSAA), and has been competing in this league since 1991. It is a Class single 'A' member of the LHSAA and competes in District 6.[3]
