Political career

In 2006 she won a seat in the lower house of Congress to serve during the LX Legislature, representing Quintana Roo's First District.

In January 2007 the Reforma newspaper brought to public attention that Ruiz Chávez owned a strip club in Cozumel; some of Ruiz Chávez opponents used that information to attacked her in the frame of the 2007 PRI internal elections.[citation needed]
