:Hello William M. Connolley, you are correct that civility is the better policy. In my defence I do note I was reacting to abuse following efforts I made to improve an article, and messages I were sent were "pompous load of self-righteous crap." Thanks.

May I suggest that "My god rarely have I read such a pompous load of self-righteous crap." isn't very civil (and please don't say "but he started it").
