Oorlams (also: Oorlands, Oorlans) is a dialect of Afrikaans spoken in the Republic of South Africa. It is considered an Afrikaans-based creole language by some observers whereas most Oorlammers themselves would describe their language as being a dialect of Afrikaans proper.[who?] Oorlams has many elements from Khoi languages.
