My knowledge of Te Rata farm and the Hayes Bridge arose from the fact that I was the sole teacher at the tiny Whakahoro School just 3 miles downstream from Te Rata, where I boarded with the Hayes family in 1947. Stanwrite 23:52, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
