About Me
Hi. My name is Kiruba Shankar and I live in Chennai,India. I'm part of the team helping set up the Wikimedia Foundation in India. I also help conduct Wikipedia Academy in Chennai and hope to make this a succesful program across India. I co-founded The Knowledge Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that focuses on knowledge sharing and open access. We helped conduct WikiCamp, a major unconference with over 350 wiki enthusiasts in 2006 at Chennai. One of my wishes is to see our strong Indian Wikipedian community join hands together and bring Wikimania to India in 2010. I've been teaching Wikis as part of my social media course in universities since 2003.
On Wikipedia, more than editing, I've been involved with organizational roles, outreach programs in Schools and Universities, spreading Creative Commons and in media liaisoning.
