William D. Irvine is a Canadian writer, historian and academic. He specializes in French history and has recently published a book on The League of the Rights of Man (Ligue des droits de l'Homme). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966 from the University of British Columbia and Ph.D. from Princeton University. He is currently a professor of History at York University in Toronto, Canada. He is of Irish decent.
