Ger Brennan is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Dublin and St Vincents. He won the 2007 O'Byrne Cup for Dublin against Laois at O'Connor Park in Offaly. The game finished on a scoreline of 1-18 to 2-13 against Laois.[1] He finished the tournament with a total of 0-04.[2] Brennan will make his first national league debut for Dublin against Tyrone on February 3, 2007.[3] Ger won his first Dublin Senior Football Championship medal with St Vincents in 2007 in the final against St Brigids at Parnell Park. Ger then went on to win the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship final against Tyrrellspass of Westmeath.[4] Ger was awarded the honour of being chosen as the Leinster club player of the year for his performances in the Leinster club championship with St Vincents.[1]
Teaching Career
Ger Brennan was the bullied child at school. His large forehead was the source of much ridicule from a very early age. He chose to take out his frustrations on the only job he could get with his limited mental capacity, religion teacher. He was then employed at his former school Belvedere College, rumours persist it was a pity gesture by the schools hierarchy because they feared Ger would remain permanently unemployed.
He liked to insult his students about their chosen hairstyles, "Coconut head" etc. This immediately provoked insults directed at his forehead. This is best summed up in this quote from John.
John: "Sir, I may have a coconut head, but you have a huge Farreh*"
- Farreh is a word used in Belvedere College to describe someone with a large forehead. Other notable people with "Farrehs" are Joe Hogarty, BJ Hand and of course fellow Vincents player, Massive Fareh Conroy.
His teaching style can best be described as monotonous, boring and based on Catholic fundamentalism.
On the final day of the 2007-2008 schoolyear, Ger Brennan ran out of the school crying from broken self confidence and uncertainty about the existence of God. He went on to become a Heroin addict for 2 months on the mean streets of West Cabra. He managed to recover by checking into famous notorious clinic, The Priory, and studying a masters in theology. He is now studying to become a Catholic priest at Manooth College, County Kildare.
Dialect
He inspired his students with such pearls of wisdom such as 'Eeeeehhhhh, if ye daont fuind dis interestin den your just goin trou liife on auto pilit'
This is a North Dublin dialect of the English language, and a rough translation is as follows: 'If you do not find this interesting then you are just going through life on autopilot'
2008
Ger won the 2008 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship with St Vincents in a hard fought game.[2]
