===Controversy===
Although the college is around 20 plus years old, which is around that of other colleges, it is infamous of having an old campus.

Specific sections of the school are painted in dull green colour, which is a colour said to be decided by previous batches of students. However, the colour appears to make that particular section of the campus looks dull and lifeless. Also, the passing of time had left ugly stains of black on the wall. Nonetheless, there was very little, if any, actions done to repaint it.

For the auditoriums and lecture theatres, there are problems raised about the seats in them. Some of the tables attached to the seats do not seem to be able to hold in place and slip off sometimes. In most cases, there is not much of a problem. But there are times when students have their notes and stationary placed on these tables, which then results in all the materials falling onto the ground when the table slips. This can happen as frequent as once per lecture. Recently, there are also cases when the tables attached collapse, which then results in students not being able to have a stable backing for writing.

Small seems to be an undetachable word from the college campus.

The air-conditional Hall is hardly able to hold 2 cohorts of students plus teachers. Whenever both levels are required to use the hall for special programmes, like celebrations and concerts, teachers will be present to get students to squeeze close together so as to ensure everyone has space to settle down. Although its Air-Conditional, it is rarely switched on.

Crest

AJ crest

The college crest is formed from the initials of the College. The letter A, in the form of a yellow flame, symbolises the vitality and youthful aspirations of the students.

The dark blue letters, J and C, supporting the flame, symbolise college support for the individual in his efforts to realise his ambition.

The four circles at the base depict racial harmony, highlighting the college motto.

The college crest was designed by Heng Eng Hwa in 1984.

Motto

The college motto, Non Mihi Solum, is a Latin expression meaning 'not for myself alone'. It was chosen because the college believes that Singapore will develop into a nation of excellence if each person regards it as his duty to reach his full potential, not only for himself, but for others as well. The college believes that, if every individual considers others in his actions, he will become not only self-disciplined and responsible but also respectful and caring.

NON MIHI SOLUM gives meaning to the lives and endeavours of our students. It is the principle that underlies our way of life at AJC.

Vision

A vibrant and collaborative learning community where caring leaders are groomed to be best for the world

AJC's students and teacher learn together and grow together, forming a community of active life-long learners who demonstrate a strong passion for knowledge. Imbued with a strong sense of compassion and social conscience, AJCians are groomed to be leaders who strive with enthusiasm to serve a globally-oriented community and nation.

Mission

To nurture AJCians to be morally upright, resilient and caring leaders with the passion to seek knowledge and the drive to excel

AJC strives to groom leaders with strong moral values and who will remain steadfast to their moral compass in the face of adversity and a world of shifting values. AJC nurtures its students to be self-directed learners and seeks to enable them to develop their intellectual and human potential to the fullest.

Values

Integrity - We are guided by the principle of integrity and are accountable for our actions.
Commitment - We are dedicated to the fulfilment of our goals and responsibilities.
Learning - We embrace learning opportunities to be adaptable in the face of constant changes.
