When I compiled the list of Krypton references, the "eating sickness" that killed Lara (Kal-El's mother) escaped me. Anyone recognize it? BryanEkers 01:28, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

"Noteworthiness issues"

Regarding the questioning of the value of the "background details" section, I'd have to point out that the reason this particular story is significant at all is because of the considerable care Moore and Gibbons put into it, as is the case for most of their projects. After all, the basic premise is not particularly original, nor is the climax. I think the story appeals to longtime Superman fans because of the references. Take them out and the value of this article evaporates and you may as well reduce it to a paragraph and stick it on the animated episode's page, if it has one. Zor-El

Zor-El's own page describes him as Jor-El's younger (not twin) brother, but I've seen conflicting stories in various DC comics. Is there a definitive reference? "Unnecessary"

Without the details and the obvious care that Moore/Gibbons took to reference and remain consistent with established Superman and DC canon (as it then existed), the entire article is as meaningless as one dedicated to Superman Annual #10 or #12. After all, the story itself is not particularly original, it contains no significant character development for Superman and the other characters, and the ending is not especially unpredictable. 24.201.152.109 (talk) 00:47, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

I've just deleted the list of "in panel X, there is a Y" examples as trivia - if the depth of these references is (as an earlier editor says on this page) "the reason this particular story is significant at all", then we should say that, rather than expecting the unfamiliar reader to realise that referencing eleven particular aspects of earlier canon is groundbreaking. --McGeddon (talk) 11:01, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
