Yvie Burnett is the main vocal coach on ITV's successful TV talent show, The X Factor. She was born on 8 August 1969 in Aberdeen, Scotland. She has also been the vocal coach on the first two series of Britain's Got Talent.
She joined The X Factor in Series 2 as Louis Walsh's vocal coach and coached Shayne Ward to success as the series winner. In 2005, as well as working with Louis with groups, Yvie also coached Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne's acts.[1] She subsequently coached Leona Lewis in 2006,[2] Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts in 2007, and Britain's Got Talent contestants Faryl Smith and Andrew Johnston in 2008.[3]
Yvie specialises in the Estill Vocal Technique and has also worked with Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol and Danny McNamara from Embrace and Murph from The Wombats.[4]
She is credited by Paul Potts in his tour programme as being his "Vocal Mentor", having continued to work with him on his 2008 World Tour.
She also continues to work with Leona Lewis, Shayne Ward and 2007 X Factor winner, Leon Jackson.
Yvie worked on the BBC series Last Choir Standing and was vocal consultant on ITV's new game show, Who Dares Sings.
Yvie is currently working with producer Walter Afanasieff on Paul Potts' Christmas album and producer Nigel Wright on the debut album by Anglo-Scottish Choirboy Andrew Johnston.
Yvie is also an operatic mezzosoprano, who has sung, as a soloist, with the Welsh National Opera, Glyndebourne, Opera North, De Nederlandse Opera and Opera De Nantes.[5]
