WMIB is a Clear Channel-owned Urban Contemporary format radio station, licensed to Fort Lauderdale. For 25 years, the station call letters were WSHE, and the station slogan was "She's only Rock n Roll." In 1995, a format change was made from album oriented rock to an alternative/hot AC hybrid format, and the call was changed to WPLL, nicknamed "Planet Radio." Another format change (this time to Disco hits of the 70's) resulted in another call letter change to WMGE, "Mega 103.5" (now used on 94.9, the former WZTA), in 1999.
Three years later, yet another format change led to the birth of WMIB, on December 31, 2002. For four years WMIB was a Hip Hop/R&B Urban station in a three way competition with longer-standing Urban rival WEDR and Rhythmic station WPOW. At one time it was home to the controversial Star and Buc Wild Morning Show from late 2005 to spring 2006.
Finally, on October 5, 2006, WMIB modified its Urban format to Urban AC, going head-to-head with market leader WHQT. Since the altering of the format, WMIB became South Florida's home of the nationally syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show.
