- I think Alexandria is the female form of Alexandra. -- Sam
- Alexander == male, Alexandra + Alexandria (+ Alexandrea?) == female
WHat about the meaning OF "Alex" I believe it normally means something to the effect of "Defender of Man, or Defender of Mankind" The "The ALex" refers to defend, and the aner, or ander, like andrew, refers to "of men" (April

Alexander and Alexandra
I would suggest two improvements to the "Alex is sometimes short for Alexander and Alexandra" claim:
1) Move it to the article proper (the introduction) 2) Make the names wiki-links so you can click them

Male and Female
I would suggest each entry is marked male or female. Otherwise the only way to know the entries' gender is to click each and every link. 85.227.226.235 (talk) 13:02, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- Don't forget this is a dab page and is not here to give info but to aid navigation to the article being sought. Abtract (talk) 23:18, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
An Alex, the current prize of photoshop
I think the contrebution about "An Alex" should be put back in place in "Other usage". This makes it easyer to find the article you are interested in.
Famous Alexs
Aren't there any other famous alexs? There's so many famous Toms for instance (Cruise, Waits, Yorke, Petty, Jones) or famous Davids or Michaels, but there really don't seem to be any famous Alexs... what's the deal with that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.80.189.137 (talk) 08:40, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
