Maatkit is a set of tools that make MySQL easier to use. Maatkit is Free Software which is written primarily in Perl, and its main author is Baron Schwartz. Maatkit now ships by default with several GNU/Linux distributions such as CentOS and Debian and packages are available for Fedora and Ubuntu as well.
