My father served on the same ship as Herman Talmadge during World War Two. Dad frequently said that Talmadge was removed his position as Executive Officer and forced to resign because of a combination if his horrible treatment of Black Mess Stewards, and such unprofesssional behavior as chewing tobacco and spitting on the Quarter Deck. Can anyone confirm or disprove this story? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.41.6.174 (talk) 22:54, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

I think that the Talmadge Memorial Bridge was named after Eugene Talmadge, not Herman. I know that the older bridge (pre-1990) specifically was signed as the Eugene Talmadge Memorial Bridge.

The bridge is named after Eugene Talmadge, not Herman. Change has been made to both bios.

Talmadge's naval service

My father served on the same ship as Herman Talmadge during World War Two. Dad frequently said that Talmadge was removed his position as Executive Officer and forced to resign because of a combination if his horrible treatment of Black Mess Stewards, and such unprofesssional behavior as chewing tobacco and spitting on the Quarter Deck. Can anyone confirm or disprove this story? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.41.6.174 (talk) 22:54, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
