Jeremy Edwards (born 17 February 1971 in London) is an English actor and television presenter, who has appeared in the TV shows Hollyoaks and Holby City. He lives in Belsize Park, North London.[citation needed]
Early life
Edwards has a degree in Public Administration from Manchester Metropolitan University and his previous jobs have included modelling and a television researcher.[citation needed] He also delivered burgers on roller skates in Soho and washed up at the canteen at Reading railway station for a short time.[citation needed] In his own words, Edwards "was a merchant banker once... walked out within a month... couldn't stand the snobbery, the wine bars, the suits and the Tube in the morning."[citation needed]
Career
Edwards played Kurt Benson in the soap opera, Hollyoaks on Channel 4 from 1995 to 1999 before appearing in the BBC medical drama television serial Holby City, in which he played Danny Shaughnessy from 1999 to 2003.
He has appeared in Comic Relief Little Britain.[citation needed]
In January 2005, Edwards took part in the third series of Celebrity Big Brother. He finished in fourth place, behind Brigitte Nielsen, Kenzie from Blazin' Squad and the winner Bez.
In 2007 he started presenting the cookery show, Cooking the Books, on Five.
On 12 February 2008 he appeared as an armed police Inspector named Fraser in the ITV soap opera, Emmerdale who tried to apprehend Sam Dingle after he was seen to have committed an armed robbery and, still possessing the firearm, had gone on the run with his young son, Samson.[1][dead link ]
On 5 January 2009 it was announced on This Morning that he would be taking part in the new series of Dancing On Ice. However he was eliminated in the third week of the show after losing in the skate-off to rugby legend Ellery Hanley.
Personal life
Edwards has a younger brother, younger twin sisters and an older brother, Tim. He was previously engaged to singer Rachel Stevens but they broke up in 2004. Edwards later said that their relationship hit the rocks following the death of his Holby City co-star Laura Sadler, as shortly afterward his life headed in a downward spiral and he began drinking heavily,[citation needed] which greatly displeased Stevens.[citation needed] The two split and reconciled before finally ending their three year relationship.[citation needed]
He is now engaged to Lydia Metz and they are getting married on 2 May 2009.
