Siddipet is a town and a municipality in Medak district in Indian state of Andhra Pradesh with a population of 61,809. It is the biggest town in Medak district and is 104 km away from Hyderabad.

Geography

Siddipet is located at 18.1°N 78.85°E / 18.1; 78.85. It has an average elevation of 475 metres (1558 feet).Siddipet is major town in Medak district. It is situated between Hyderabad and Karimnagar on Rajeev Highway.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Siddipet had a population of 121,469. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Siddipet has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 60%. In Siddipet, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age. 32 municipality wards are there. Siddipet students go to hyderabad for their higher education.

Proud to say about Siddipet politics.In siddipet every political party have their own power.But after formation of TRS .Its very common thing happening in Siddipet is T.Harish rao's victory.Dont think that people are voting for TRS or some thing else .Siddipet people are just voting for Telangana sentiment.We simply say Siddipet is Telanagan's "Puriti Gadda". If any govt gives telangana worlds most happiest people are Siddipet people.....

Education

Govt degree college it is the second bigest college in telengana. govt high school, [govt new high school] are famous schools in the city. There are engineering and pharmacy and nursing colleges in and around siddipet.One among them is INDUR INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY( An IIT in the making ),catering the needs of engineering education in and around siddipet. Every year about 1000-2000 students are pursuing their engineering from siddipet. St. John's High school(Estd 1969), Gowtham Model School (GMS), Vikas high school,VENKATA SAI SCHOOL OF NURSING(PONNALA) , are some of the famous schools in the town. Sri chakara junior college The Government Degeree College is famous and is very beautiful to see, it was built long back when there were no colleges in Telangana region except Hyderabad.

Gayathri Vidyalayam is one of the famous university here which got many state ranks in 2000 and 2001. Ravindra vidyalayam is also a good school. But many students are not proving themselves in intermediate as they are not reaching great heights. Although many students are getting good ranks in EAMCET, IIT and many are settled in countries like United States,UK,Australia etc.

Rivers

Komati cheruvu & Yerra cheruvu, sub-river of Manjira (which is sub river of Godavari) is located at this place. In Komati Cheruvu recently Boating also Started by Yellu Ravinder Reddy the Sarpanch of Prashanth nagar Grampanchayat

Siddipet is very famous for VYSYA community who are called Shetty, Sethh, Gupta and Komati in various areas of India. Most of the population also belongs to Vysya Community. After that some communities like Reddy, Padmashali, Brahmin, Gold smith, Gujarathi, BCs also very high population, SC., ST., like various communities are there. Hindu, Muslim, Sikhs, Christians, Parsi and Nepalee living there.

Some other temples are Renuka Yellamma Temple, Ayyappa Swamy Temple, Kotipadagala Santhana Naga Devatha Temple, Santhoshi Matha Temple, Parvathi Devi Temple, Pochamma Temple, Gadi Maisamma Temple, Shirdi Sai Baba Temple,Sri Neelakanteshwara swami temple, Old & New Venkateshwara Temple, Panchamukha Anjaneya Temple, Sai Ram Temple, SRIPADA DATTA KSETRAM and Naga Devatha Temple located 3km from town others. annapurneshwari temple in v.v.k nagar In siddpet one of the oldest church C.S.I church it is about 100 years back church and many masjid's, the oldest masjid is JAMA MASJID located at lal kaman.

Siddipet has three 70mm, one 35mm and one Video theatres, which put up latest Telugu and at times Hindi movies too. Apart from this Public Servants Home (NGO's), Citizens Club, mini tankbund (komati chervu) and municipal parks are there for people entertainment.
