What a crybaby.

Revision as of 20:46, 20 February 2009

OK, I'm out of here, too many fuckwits and their egos to be bothered with. Graham Chapman [1]

I'm taking a break for a while. Same story as so many other long-term editors; vandals, trolls, POV warriors, self-promoters, etc have a field day while valuable editors attempt to police them. That's a stupid way to write an encyclopedia.

Some parts of Wikipedia are pretty good, specifically the parts which attract enough attention to be edited regularly, but which don't ignite POV controversies. I'm pretty happy with the math articles, for example. But Wikipedia's current editing policy encourages edit warring on contentious subjects, and there is no reason to hope that things are going to settle down. The arbitration committee could help, but they're quite spineless. Jimmy Wales has the power to change things, but he thinks this situation is A-OK. It doesn't seem to bother him that boundless Wikilove for vandals, trolls etc is a big Wikifuckoff for everyone else.

A random comment -- there is way too much community in Wikipedia. What I mean is that editors spend way too much time bloating the talk pages. Wikipedia really encourages windbags.
