Formby High School is one of two secondary comprehensive schools in Formby, Sefton with the other being Range High School. Headed by headteacher Claire Simpson, the school accommodates for roughly 1000 students[citation needed] and has its own Sixth form building. Formby high was awarded with specialist arts status in 2002.[1] The 2005/2006 academic year saw Formby High achieve the highest percentage of GCSE passes (5 A*-C) compared to any school in Sefton's history.[citation needed]
