Exhorder was a groove metal band formed in New Orleans, USA during the late 1980s. They are often credited as the purveyors of the groove oriented thrash sound later made famous by bands such as Pantera and White Zombie. Some fans of Exhorder would even accuse Pantera of robbing the groove style from Exhorder and stealing their fame causing many parodies of Pantera to pop up through out the internet and the groove-metal scene.

Exhorder released two albums in the early 1990s, debuting with Slaughter In Vatican and making a follow-up with The Law. Like many metal bands in the early 1990s, they succumbed to the fall of heavy metal's popularity due to the rise of alternative rock and seemed to fall into obscurity. In some interviews with former lead vocalist, Kyle Thomas, he has stated that the band might reform but nothing is promised.
