An Horse is a two-person indie pop[2] band from Australia, comprising Kate Cooper of Iron On and Damon Cox of Intercooler and Mary Trembles.[3] In 2008 they toured the United States as an opening act for Tegan and Sara, prior to the release of their first album. In August of 2008, they opened for Death Cab for Cutie for their Australian tour.
To date An Horse has completed an EP, Not Really Scared, and a full album, Rearrange Beds. Rearrange Beds was available on iTunes as of December 8, 2008, and is due to be released in stores on March 17, 2009.[4]
Career
An Horse originally began as a solo project by Kate Cooper, who is the principal songwriter.[5] Tegan and Sara met Cooper while touring Australia, after playing in a record store, Skinny's music, where she worked. Sara invited An Horse along for their US tour. The tour was An Horse's first time playing in the United States.[6] The band has quickly gained popularity, in part due to this tour, leading reviewers to note that they "came out of nowhere".[7]
An Horse has generally received favorable reviews for their first EP, Not Really Scared.[5][7]
Their song "Postcards" was used in a TV ad for the Mercedes-Benz CLC-Class in 2008.[8]
On March 12, 2009 An Horse made their first ever television appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman performing 'Camp Out'.
