Discovery Place is a science museum in Charlotte, North Carolina that opened in 1981. The museum has a satellite museum in West Charlotte called the Charlotte Nature Museum and in 2009, it is planning to open a second satellite museum in Huntersville, North Carolina that will be known as Discovery Place Kids Huntersville.[1] These satellite museums, as well as the $32 million renovation of the existing museum[2] is a means of remaining current despite the age of some of their exhibits.[3]

The OMNIMAX theater at the museum is one of two IMAX theater locations in North Carolina, with the other being located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
