The explosion sent Carrero Blanco and his car 200 feet into the air and over the church. The car crashed down to the ground on the opposite side of the church. Luis Carrero Blanco was killed instantly. |

The Operación Ogro (Operation Ogre) was the name given by ETA to the killing of Luis Carrero Blanco the then Prime Minister of Spain in 1973. This killing was carried out in December 1973. ETA placed 200 tonnes of high explosives under Blanco's car and once the former minister entered his vehicle, ETA set off the bombs. The explosion sent Carrero Blanco and his car 200 feet into the air and over the church. The car crashed down to the ground on the opposite side of the church. Luis Carrero Blanco was killed instantly.
