Himanish Goswami is a noted litterateur and cartoonist of Bengali literature.

Personal life and education

Himanish Goswami was born in 1926 in Ratandia, Faridpur,Bangladesh. Father: Parimal Goswami, a renowned bengali writer & critic, Mother: Jyotsna Devi.His grand father, Bihari Lal Goswami died on 1931. At that time, Himanish was 5 years old and his father was working in Kolkata. His maternal uncle's house was very near by(3 miles by walk). He had seven maternal uncles. His grand father ( from mother's side), was Jatindra Nath Bagchi, a renowned poet in Bengal. Jnanendra Nath Bagchi, one of his maternal uncle, had written in many bengali magazines.He grew up in the surroundings of literary atmosphere.He settled in Kolkata in 1937.He passed B.A. from Calcutta University in 1948.[1]
