Chris Volz is an American alternative metal/hard rock singer. He is the lead vocalist of Flaw and played for the now defunct Five Bolt Main. In 2006, Chris Volz announced plans for a solo project. He has recently revealed that his debut solo album will be released through the independent record label Rock Ridge Music, and it will be titled Redemption. The solo album was released on September 11, 2007.[1] A clip of the title track off the album has been posted on his official music myspace. Volz is out of rehab now and was working on a new album with Flaw, but was kicked out of the band in April 2009 due to his continuing substance abuse problems and allegations that he abused his girlfriend.
Background
Born August 6, 1973, Chris grew up in the Baltimore, Maryland area and is currently based in Louisville, Kentucky. At the age of 2, Volz was adopted by a former opera singer. When he was 12, his adoptive mother committed suicide. Volz cites jazz, classical and metal music as some of his influences. His vocal style consist of mainly singing as well as screaming. The songs, "Whole" from Through The Eyes and "The Gift" from Venting are about his adoptive mother.[2][3]
During 2008, Volz checked himself into a 30 day alcohol rehabilitation program to recover from alcohol problems that are all too familiar to his fans. Unfortunately this had little to no effect as he managed to cause the reunited TTE lineup to disband a second time.
