Necton, formerly called Neketona, is a village situated on a turning off the A47 main road between Swaffham and East Dereham in the Breckland district[1] of mid-Norfolk. It has a population of 1890 residents in an area of 1548 hectares or 6 square miles[2]. It has a number of facilities for the residents including All Saints church, primary school, playing field, garden centre, garage, social club, pub, old people's home, hairdressers, butchers, post office, local store, baby goods store and even a doctor's surgery.
All Saints church is at the centre of the village[3][4][5] in the Benefice of Necton[6]
There is also an old mill that used to be in full working order until the 1960s. Necton tower mill[7] had been converted into a single storey dwelling with a flat roof by 1970.
