Glyn Ford (born 28 January 1950 in Gloucester) is a member of the European Parliament for South West England for the Labour Party and Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party[1]. He has been a member of the European Parliament since 1984, originally for Greater Manchester East, then from 1999 as one of the members for South West England [2].

Before being elected he worked at the University of Manchester and was a local councillor in the Greater Manchester borough of Tameside. Glyn has two children Elise born in 1981 and Alessandro born in 1996

Glyn is an expert on Asia, and was heavily involved in the European Parliament's work with China during the Beijing Olympics 2008. In 2008 he published a book, "North Korea on the Brink: Struggle for Survival".

Glyn Ford has said he will campaign for Gibraltar to have its own seat in the European Parliament, rather than only having representation through the South West England constituency.[3][4]
