Hayate Racing Team is a motorcycle racing team that competes in the MotoGP championship. It is a scaled down version of the Kawasaki factory team that withdrew from MotoGP for the 2009 championship due to the economic crisis. The team takes its name from the japanese word Hayate meaning hurricane.[1]
The team runs one Kawasaki ZX-RR motorcycle that is ridden by Marco Melandri.
Kawasaki stopped developing new parts for the motorbike in March 2009, meaning Kawasaki's involvement will be limited to servicing and maintaining the motorcycle for the rest of the 2009 season. Despite this, Marco achieved a remarkable result in coming second at the French MotoGP at Le Mans on 17th May 2009.[2]
