Go:Audio

Go:Audio, formerly known as The Vacancy, are a 4-piece pop rock band from the United Kingdom. They are based in London. The band's sound follows the standard formula of pop-punk but includes an electronic edge incorporated by the use of synthesizers and programming tools. Additionally, they do not have a bass player and state they have no desire to use one.

They released their debut EP, Woodchuck in March 2008 and along with the success of singles Woodchuck and Made Up Stories. They released their first full length album on May 11, 2009, titled Made Up Stories.

History

They signed to Epic records in May 2007, but parted ways in September 2008 due to the fact that they felt they could no longer move forward with them.[2]

"Woodchuck", the band's first single, was released to many radio and music television stations in late January 2008 to promote the 4-track Woodchuck EP. It received rotation on many stations, most notably Kerrang! Radio, as well as local stations across the UK. It has been largely successful, and received honors on YouTube as being one of the most watched videos in the United Kingdom.

The band's first official single, "Made Up Stories" was released on 26 May 2008. The video, in which a hand-picked group of fans participated, is available to view on the band's MySpace page.[3]

The video was frequently shown on Kerrang!, Scuzz and Fizz TV (now known as Starz TV). After the release of the "Made Up Stories" single it was announced the band's full length debut album would take the same title. The recording was completed in Sussex in June 2007 and was due to be released on the 19 January 2009 after being pushed back from August 25 2008.[4] On 10 January 2009, Go:Audio issued a blog entry via Myspace stating that they had prosponed the release of their album and are back in the recording studio recording several new songs including their new single which will be included in their album, which will be released on May 11 2009 with an album release show at the Camden Barfly, the album debuted at #95 in the official UK album chart.

Their second single from Made Up Stories was "She Left Me", released on August 11, the first day of their UK headline tour. The band debuted an acoustic version of the track on August 6 on Rocklouder.co.uk.[5]

The band have toured with Scouting for Girls, McFly, Hellogoodbye, The Blackout and Zebrahead among others. They have had "Made Up Stories" covered by Dananananaykroyd.

On their 8 date tour in April 2009 they had Saving Aimee and Eighth wave as their support acts. On this tour they began to play older tracks which had not been heard live for a few tours, alongside new tracks which had yet to have been heard by fans.

Go:Audio recently announced that they have a new single - 'Drive to the City' - due out April 20, which has already been well received[6], reaching number one on the MTV2 Music Chart. Go:Audio posted a blog on their Myspace asking fans to choose b-sides for this single, giving them 4 songs to choose from (high demand caused all 4 tracks to be chosen eventually).

They also announced they are on their own record label 'Rubix Records'. [7]
