Risto Erkki Juhani Penttilä (born 17th March 1959, Pori, Finland) is a Finnish doctor of philosophy and politician.
He received his education in Yale University (Bachelor of Arts 1984) and Oxford University (Master of Philosophy 1986 and Doctor of Philosophy 1988). He was the first Finn to receive Bachelor's degree from Yale. In Oxford, he lived in the same room as Bill Clinton before him and Chelsea Clinton after him.
In 1994, he and several other people founded Nuorsuomalaiset, a reform-minded political party. He was elected to the parliament, but the party failed in next elections and was discontinued in 1999.
In European Parliament election 2009, he was a National Coalition Party candidate.
He has worked for McKinsey, World Economic Forum and Oxford Analytica. He has been a columnist in International Herald Tribune, Financial Times, and Taloussanomat.
As a football player, he won Finnish Cup in Lahden Reipas team in 1978.[1] In Yale, he was selected to the Ivy league football team.
